About Dr. McIntosh
Prosthodontics is one of nine different dental specialties. Most people know the Orthodontist and the Oral Surgeon, but few people know about the Prosthodontist. A Prosthodontist is not a Denturist. Denturists require no university training, and can complete their training within a relatively short period of time. A Prosthodontist, on the other hand, requires at least two years of university courses primarily in the Sciences prior to four years of Dental School and at least three years of post-graduate Prosthodontic training.
Dr. Rob McIntosh completed a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Manitoba between 1995 and 1998, a Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry degree at the University of Manitoba between 1998 and 2002, a Master of Applied Science in Biomedical Engineering degree at Dalhousie University between 2002 and 2005, and a Diploma in Prosthodontics at Dalhousie University between 2002 and 2005.
Dr. Rob McIntosh has practiced as a Prosthodontist in Winnipeg from 2005 until present, but has concurrently held teaching positions at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Dentistry and a dental consulting position with the Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation at various points between 2005 and 2010. He is a member of the American College of Prosthodontists, the Association of Prosthodontists of Canada, the Canadian Dental Association, and the Manitoba Dental Association. He has been involved with organized dentistry locally for more than a decade by serving on committees of the Manitoba Dental Association including the Scope of Practice Committee, and the Dental Implant Subcommittee.
